Caffeine Addiction

Caffeine Addiction. what’s involved?

Caffeine addiction affects many people who are not aware of its influence on their lives. They are unaware of how much caffeine they consume, the foods which contain caffeine and the effects of using too much. Many unsuspecting people do not even know they are potentially harming themselves irreparably.

Caffeine Addiction: What Is Caffeine?

Caffeine addiction is prevalent because caffeine is found in so many foods today. Caffeine is a highly addictive chemical found naturally in many products, or added by manufacturers to many processed foods. Caffeine occurs naturally in coffee beans, coffee leaves, other leaves and berries, and in tea. Almost all coffees, unless decaffeinated, cola preparations, tea, chocolate and even medications contain caffeine.

Caffeine Addiction: How does caffeine affect the body?

Caffeine addiction is pervasive because of caffeine’s’ benefits. Many people depend on it’s benefits such as heightened alertness, apparent increased concentration and an ability to alleviate tiredness. However, in addition to these potential benefits, many negative side effects take place from consuming caffeine. Caffeine simulates the central nervous system. It interferes with responses and interpretations traveling to and from the brain.

Caffeine raises the production of the stress hormone, thereby causing a sense of being more alert. Caffeine may increase acid production so much so that it can cause a stomach ulcer. It alters the anatomical functioning of the blood vessels and removes the body’s calcium supply. Caffeine’s effects cause people to be more susceptible to osteoporosis, irregular heart rhythms and serious illness and pain from the gastro-intestinal tract.

Caffeine Addiction Causes The Following Symptoms

Caffeine addiction causes both milder and more serious problems. Too much caffeine can cause irritability, bad moods, and sleeplessness, all of which cause additional stress in one’s life. Too much caffeine can also be affect one’s long term health. It can lead to heart palpitations, fine tremors of the hands and can actually lower one’s concentration.
