Overview

HIV Scotland works with decision makers at a local, Scottish and UK level on a range of issues that are important to people living with or at risk of HIV. Ahead of elections for these institutions, HIV Scotland produces briefings for candidates and identifies the priority areas for HIV policy that is relevant in that election. Through this, we aim to ensure that party manifestos include commitments to improve the services, support and rights of people affected by HIV. Moreover, this provides an opportunity for people living with or at risk of HIV to engage and influence the election campaigns.

Current Work

Ahead of the 2016 Scottish election, HIV Scotland and the National AIDS Trust produced a series of election calls for the next Scottish Government, as well as suggested ways to take action and influence the election. A hustings event was also held bringing together people affected by HIV, third sector and healthcare professionals to quiz a panel of political representatives.

Previous Work

Prior to the 2015 UK general election, HIV Scotland and the National AIDS Trust produced a series of election calls for the next UK Government. A cross-examination of the main party manifestos was also published.
