One option that women can take is finding a sperm donor. A sperm donor is most often used when the woman does not have a partner to help with conception.

There are usually two options involving a sperm donor: known and not known. Sperm banks often times provide both options. Although each type of sperm donor has pros and a cons, most women would like to know some sort of information about the man behind the sperm. Sperm banks usually have that information available, if the father provided it, but sperm donor information can cost the woman more money.

Most factors involving picking a particular sperm donor are subjective. Some women don't mind not knowing anything about the sperm donor, while others are more concerned about physical and mental characteristics of a potential donor affecting their future child.
