Signs of Pregnancy

One of the most heart-thumping questions that most women face is, “Am I pregnant?” To avoid the guessing game, here are some signs that can help tell you if you are pregnant. Keep in mind, however, that you would not be experiencing all of these things during all your pregnancies. Each of your pregnancies is unique and the intensity of the symptoms that you would experience could vary.

The first and most obvious sign of pregnancy is a missed period. Some women, however, mistake implantation bleeding for menstruation. The former usually is lighter and shorter than your usual menstrual period.

Another common sign is morning sickness usually appearing on your sixth week of pregnancy. Morning sickness may come as nausea and vomiting for some women or as a general feeling of light-headiness for others.

Some women also experience soreness of breasts. Since this can also happen before the start of your menstrual period, you might not give it much thought unless it coincides with missed period. Soreness can range from slight discomfort when your breasts are touched to severe pain. These are, however, both normal.

Frequent urination and fatigue is also one common sign of pregnancy. Your swelling uterus will already be putting pressure on your bladder thus the need for more frequent visits to the ladies’ room. Fatigue on the other hand, is caused by the hormonal changes your body is currently going through.

The last sign of pregnancyand the most accurate one, is a positive pregnancy test. Pregnancy tests are best taken with your first morning urine on the day you should be having your period. If you want a more accurate test result, you could go for pregnancy tests that use blood samples.
