Pregnancy Stomach

As the child grows in the mother’s womb different type of stomach problems arise. The increasing size of the baby may cause several stomach problems that will give discomfort to the mother, this situation is unavoidable and it can be considered as part of a woman’s journey to pregnancy.

One of the major concerns that a woman experiences during pregnancy are the frequent stomach aches, sometimes women tend to panic whenever they experience this kind of discomfort but generally they should not be. A few short aches can be considered as normal in any pregnancy. What expectant mothers should be cautious of is if those pains will turn to be severe pain. Severe cramping and intolerable pain is not normal and an immediate attention of a physician is required.

At the start of pregnancy some cramps and pain in the abdominal area may happen because of the changes that are happening inside the womb. This is the time where the embryo is implanting itself in the uterus and normal mild cramping for a day is possible.

Normal pregnancy stomach aches for women as the pregnancy goes along have many causes but overall it is because of the hormones and the pressure that the growing child gives to a woman’s internal organs. Gas pains, heart burns and constipation are all normal. Also some muscle pains around the belly are very common especially if the child is big.

Gas pains are very common because of the rise in hormones. As the hormones increase the digestive process slows down, because of this eating soft foods is recommended and doing some simple exercises. Also heartburn and constipation may happen and worsen during the last stages of the pregnancy term, not only is this because of the hormones, but as the child grows it gives more pressure to the uterus causing the intestines to be pressed.

If the pregnant woman is already in the last stages of pregnancy cramping may be apparent and a sign of labor. During this time help from health care workers or physician is already necessary.
