Infertility Causes
There are many infertility causes. Although most are found in the woman, there are some found in the man as well.
Infertility causes in women include:
- Ovulation issues
- PCOS
- Endometriosis
- Premature Ovarian Failure
- Uterine Fibroids
Ovulation issues in regards to infertility causes are usually the result of hormonal imbalances. For example, a woman with high prolactin can find herself without any ovulation at all due to the body thinking it is already pregnant or nursing. A woman with a HCG deficiency will find it hard to conceive due to the lack of an endometrios and if she does conceive many times a deficiency in HCG levels will make it hard for her to carry the fetus to term. Most ovulation issues are treatable.
PCOS or otherwise known as polycystic ovary syndrome causes the woman's ovary follicles to clump up and for cysts. This often results in the ovaries releasing eggs that are not fitting for fertilization. PCOS is considered to be the most common cause of female infertility.
Endometriosis causes the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) to grow instead of shedding at th beginning of each menstruation cycle. It is painful, but treatable.
POF or Premature Ovarian Failure is when a woman's ovaries stop working well before it is normal for them to stop producing eggs.
Uterine Fibroids are non cancerous tumors found on the uterus. They are most common during a woman's younger child bearing years.
