Female Infertility

There are many reasons for female infertility. To make sure to capitalize on the best fertility treatment, a woman must be aware of the cause behind her infertility.

What Causes Female Infertility?

Various reasons for female infertility include:
  • *Turners Syndrome
  • *STDs
  • *Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
  • *Endometriosis
  • *Premature Ovarian Failure (POF)
  • *Uterine Fibroids

Turners Syndrome

Turners Syndrome is a chromosomal abnormality where the woman is missing one of the x chromosomes in most of her cells, and has a fragmented x in a few others. Nearly 90% of those with Turners Syndrome will have ovarian failure, leaving them infertile.

STDs

STDs, short for sexually transmitted diseases affects 87 million people and can in some instances render them infertile until the disease is taken care of.

PCOS

PCOS is the most common female infertility cause. PCOS affects one in ten women. PCOS causes female infertility by causing ovarian follicles to bunch up and to become cystic. This causes a woman's ovaries to produce eggs in an abnormal way.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a condition involving the lining of the Uterus or otherwise known as the endometrium. Endometriosis occurs when the endometrium doesn't shed as it should during menstruation and rather builds up, inflaming the Uterus and causing female infertility.

POF

POF is essentially a condition of female infertility where the woman stops producing eggs or even essential hormones to become pregnant and yet they are under 40.

Uterine Fibroids

These are non-cancerous tumors found on the Uterus. Although no one knows why they are a cause for female infertility, research indicates they are.

The most important of treating female infertility is to know what is causing it. Once that is narrowed down, treating female infertility becomes that much easier.
