In order to catch and treat bulimia nervosa at an early stage one must be aware of the various bulimia symptoms. These bulimia symptoms can be broken down into behavioral and physiological.
Behavioral bulimia symptoms include: self esteem issues in relation to body weight, past issues with anorexia nervosa, excessive use of laxatives, and body dismorphic disorder.
Physiological bulimia symptoms include: constant weight fluctuation, hypothermia, hypertension, bradycardia, dental erosion, bruised or callused fingers and hands (from forced purging unless the bulimic figured out how to do hands free purging), proximal muscle atrophy from ipecac abuse.
Although not every bulimic will display the above bulimia symptoms, many bulimics do share many of them. It is important to stay aware of any display of bulimia symptoms in order to prevent the condition from worsening.
