Bulimia Effects
Bulimia, like any eating disorder affects the body and mind in multiple ways. Bulimia effects are far reaching. The following is a list of bulimia effects:
- *Bulimia Nervosa can cause the heart’s electrical activity to become irregular. This can lead to a rupture in the walls of the heart resulting in heart attacks
- *Constant binging may result in the stomach becoming swollen
- *Excessive purging can lead to the esophagus becoming swollen or rupturing
- *Bulimia can cause a atrophy in muscles and over all weakness.
- *Kidney function impairment
- *Seizures in the central nervous system
- *Inhalation of stomach contents can lead to pulmonary problems
Perhaps one of the biggest and harmful effects from bulimia is not physical at all, rather mental. Ultimately bulimia can lead to depression, isolation. These inturn can drag a bulimic to attempting suicide or falling into substance abuse. Bulimia is not another condition to be dealt with gently or lightly, rather bulimia effects are severe in nature and should be viewed as such.
