Anorexia Treatment consists of either one or all of the following:
- Hospitalization
- Psychotherapy
- Medicines
Hospitalization as an
anorexia treatment is usually required when a patient falls to 15% from their original body mass. In the hospital patients are directed to eat three substantial meals a day. For those who refuse to eat and/or fall in weight to where they become dangerously ill, a feeding tube is often time inserted.
Psychotherapy as an
anorexia treatment consists of the following possible treatments:
- Cognitive -Behavioral Therapy
- Interpersonal Psychotherapy
- Family Therapy
- Group Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy not only helps the patient with anorexia tackle the actual eating disorder, it also helps to get to the bottom of the issues lying behind a patient's anorexia.
Medications for
anorexia treatment do not actually consists of specific medications for anorexia, rather many doctors will subscribe medications based upon the patient's symptomatic need. These medications include:
- Antidepressants
- Tranquilizers
- Estrogen
